This resolution recognizes Tarleton State University on the occasion of its 125th anniversary, highlighting the institution's long and distinguished history. Established in 1899 as John Tarleton College in Stephenville, the university joined The Texas A&M University System in 1917 and was renamed Tarleton State University in 1973. Today, the university serves approximately 18,000 students across multiple campuses in Stephenville, Bryan, Fort Worth, and Waco, offering a wide range of academic and extracurricular opportunities, including NCAA Division I athletic programs and a prominent rodeo program. The Texas Senate commends the university's administrators, faculty, and staff for their significant contributions to higher education in Texas, acknowledging the institution's growth in enrollment, research, scholarship, athletics, and philanthropy. The resolution specifically praises Tarleton State University for its commitment to preparing students for future success and its role in building a brighter future for Texans.
