This resolution requests the West Virginia Division of Highways to name a specific portion of Main Street East in Fayette County as the "U.S. Air Force Sergeant Thomas Madison Oxley Memorial Road" in honor of Thomas "Tom" Madison Oxley, a local veteran who served in the Air Force as a linguist from 1962 to 1967. The road segment spans from the intersection with Patterson Avenue (at coordinates 37.983998, -81.137400) to the intersection with Lochgelly Road (at coordinates 38.005804, -81.131043). The resolution also requires the Division of Highways to place identifying signs at both ends of the road segment and directs the House Clerk to forward a copy of the resolution to the Division of Highways Commissioner. The memorial honors Oxley's military service, during which he studied Mandarin Chinese at Yale University and served in Japan, as well as his subsequent contributions to his community, including serving as City Manager and Council Member for Oak Hill, and being active in local organizations and his church.
