This resolution honors the life of Joseph Woodrow Snavely, Jr., a distinguished citizen who passed away on January 22, 2025, by commemorating his remarkable personal and professional achievements. Born in 1947 in Marion, Snavely overcame polio in 1952 and maintained a lifelong commitment to health and fitness through various activities, while building a 44-year career as a master electrician at Ashland, Inc., and Marathon Oil Corporation. Beyond his professional life, he was a passionate homebrewer who co-founded the Greater Huntington Homebrewers Association, an avid chef and gardener, and a dedicated community servant who volunteered at his church's Christmas Eve meals program for 25 years. Snavely was also an accomplished marksman and National Rifle Association-certified concealed carry instructor. The resolution, passed by the Virginia Senate, expresses deep sadness at his loss, acknowledges his significant contributions to his community, and directs the Senate Clerk to prepare a copy of the resolution to be presented to his family, including his wife Parker, children Shayne and Tracie, and grandchildren Tyson and Ryder, as a mark of respect for his memory.
