The plans must include specific protocols for responding to cardiac emergencies, establishing a response team, placing and maintaining automated external defibrillators (AEDs), training staff in CPR and AED use, and integrating with local emergency medical services. Schools with athletic programs must create additional plans specifically for sports-related cardiac events.
