This bill mandates that the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) establish reimbursement rates for non-medical transportation for individuals struggling with substance use disorders to attend peer support services, which are provided by individuals certified by OASAS. In developing these rates, OASAS, in collaboration with the Department of Health, will seek federal Medicaid funding and explore the use of federal grants like state opioid response grants and substance abuse prevention and treatment block grants to cover these transportation costs, with the reimbursement rates to be set by April 1, 2027.
