This bill aims to develop a comprehensive statewide food security strategy in Washington state, with the goal of ending hunger, reducing diet-related environmental health disparities, and increasing agricultural sustainability. The department is required to submit the completed strategy to legislative committees by July 1, 2027, with both sections of the bill set to expire on July 1, 2028. This approach represents a holistic, multi-agency effort to comprehensively address food security challenges in Washington state.
