This bill appropriates $4.7 million total ($2.35 million in each of fiscal years 2026 and 2027) from Minnesota's arts and cultural heritage fund to Minnesota Public Radio (MPR), specifically to support four key programming initiatives: (1) creating original on-air and digital content, live events, and arts education opportunities that reach statewide, (2) enhancing the state's artistic and cultural ecosystem through partnerships with working artists, musicians, historians, and writers, (3) growing representation and support for Minnesota's communities of color and Indigenous communities in radio programming, and (4) preserving and providing public access to MPR's historical audio archives. The appropriation is designed to support MPR's mission of providing diverse, culturally representative media content that documents and celebrates Minnesota's artistic and cultural landscape across multiple platforms.
