This resolution recognizes the important work of Iowa Small Business Development Centers (SBDC), which have been providing expert business counseling and training services in all 99 counties since 1981. The resolution specifically highlights the centers' efforts to support entrepreneurs through professional counseling, workshops, courses, and other services. It honors two 2025 special entrepreneur award winners: Sierra Elbert from Emmetsburg, founder of Groom Curriculum, who received the Deb Dalziel Women Entrepreneur Achievement Award for significantly improving her life and the lives of others, and Abe Sandquist from Woodbine, founder of Natural Fertilizer Services, who was given the Neal Smith Entrepreneur of the Year Award for being successfully assisted by an Iowa SBDC after being in business for at least three years. By passing this resolution, the House of Representatives congratulates these entrepreneurs and expresses gratitude to the Small Business Development Centers for their ongoing work in supporting business growth and contributing to the quality of life in Iowa.
