This bill requires the Higher Education Department to conduct a comprehensive study on Career and Technical Education (CTE) in collaboration with the Public Education Department, Workforce Solutions Department, and the Legislative Education Study Committee. The study will focus on two main areas: the availability of CTE courses and the salaries and compensation of CTE instructors. Specifically, the study will evaluate the current CTE course offerings, identify gaps between course availability and student/industry needs, examine potential workforce shortages, and analyze instructor compensation. The study will include an in-depth review of instructor salaries, particularly at community colleges, the current number of instructors, and potential instructor shortages. The comprehensive report will not only present findings but also include recommendations for addressing identified issues, with input from industry employers. The report will be submitted to the governor, legislative finance committee, and other appropriate legislative committees. The study is mandated to be completed with an effective date of July 1, 2025, and aims to provide insights into improving CTE education and workforce development in the state.
