Bill Summary

This bill relates to the department of health and human services (HHS) and the department of administrative services (DAS) review of anti-obesity medication for purposes of the medical assistance program and health insurance plans established pursuant to Code chapter 509A for public employees. The bill requires HHS and DAS to review anti-obesity medications, including GLP-1 agonists, for effectiveness, comorbidities, cost savings, and eligibility requirements as described in the bill. HHS and DAS shall submit a report to the general assembly by January 5, 2026, containing HHS’s and DAS’s findings and proposed eligibility requirements.
