This bill establishes a working group to study the Department of Social Services' quality metrics program for Medicaid reimbursement to nursing homes. The working group will be chaired by the chairpersons of the legislative committee on aging and will include members such as the Commissioner of Social Services and professionals with expertise in Medicaid nursing home reimbursement. The group must hold its first meeting within 60 days of the bill's effective date and is required to submit a comprehensive report with findings and recommendations to the aging committee by January 1, 2026. The administrative staff of the aging committee will support the working group, and the working group will automatically terminate after submitting its report or on January 1, 2026, whichever occurs later. The purpose of this group is to examine and potentially improve the current quality metrics used to determine Medicaid payments to nursing homes, with the ultimate goal of ensuring effective and efficient healthcare services for nursing home residents.
