This resolution honors the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) response teams for their critical assistance to North Carolina following devastating floods in September 2024. After North Carolina transportation officials requested help, KYTC dispatched highway technicians, mechanics, engineering staff, trucks, excavators, and equipment from multiple districts across Kentucky, including teams from Lexington, Flemingsburg, Jackson, Pikeville, Bowling Green, Elizabethtown, Somerset, Louisville, and Covington. The KYTC teams worked extensively to restore roadways, performing tasks such as hauling rock to fill flood-damaged areas, removing debris, replacing pipes, and restoring road shoulders and ditchlines. The resolution highlights that these response teams were praised by North Carolinians for their self-sufficiency and heroic efforts in helping citizens return to a sense of normalcy. The Senate formally resolves to adjourn in honor of these KYTC response teams, recognizing their exceptional public service that extends beyond state boundaries, and directs the Senate Clerk to transmit a copy of the resolution to Senator Jimmy Higdon for presentation.
