The resolution highlights that Kentucky passed Senate Bill 47 establishing a medical cannabis program effective January 1, 2025, and argues that citizens should not have to choose between accessing medical treatment and exercising their Second Amendment right to bear arms. Specifically, the resolution calls on Congress to develop a legislative solution that would allow medical cannabis users to purchase and possess firearms without legal risk. To advance this goal, the resolution directs the House Clerk to send copies of the resolution to key congressional leaders, including the Speaker of the House, Senate Majority Leader, and Kentucky's congressional delegation, in hopes of prompting legislative action to resolve this legal inconsistency.
