This bill establishes comprehensive requirements for health insurance coverage of CAR T-cell therapies in Florida, targeting individual, group, and health maintenance insurance policies. The bill defines CAR T-cell therapy as an advanced cancer treatment where a patient's own T cells are genetically modified in a laboratory and then infused back into the patient to attack cancer cells, potentially preceded by chemotherapy or radiation. Specifically, for any insurance policy issued or renewed on or after January 1, 2026, that provides coverage for CAR T-cell therapies, insurers are prohibited from refusing to contract with health care facilities for administering these therapies and are forbidden from denying coverage for the procedure, medications, and associated treatments. These requirements apply when the health care facility is already part of the insurance policy's provider network for other services and when the CAR T-cell therapy follows guidelines for treatments approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration.
