This bill expands the scope of work for Class A air-conditioning contractors and mechanical contractors in Florida by adding several new services they are permitted to perform. Specifically, these contractors can now replace and repair existing package pool heaters, connecting them to existing pool piping, with strict limitations that the replacement must use the same make and model, maintain existing flow rates and connection points, and not involve modifications to the pool's hydraulic system or circulation system. The bill also clarifies the contractors' abilities to perform electrical work related to HVAC systems, such as replacing power wiring, disconnects, breakers, and fuses for dedicated HVAC circuits, and installing low-voltage control wiring. Additionally, the bill maintains the existing provisions that these contractors can perform excavation work incidental to their primary services, but continues to prohibit them from doing work involving potable water lines, sanitary sewer lines, swimming pool piping and filters, or comprehensive electrical power wiring. The changes are designed to provide more clarity and flexibility for air-conditioning and mechanical contractors while maintaining safety and professional standards. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
