This bill proposes to completely repeal the Arkansas Alternative Motor Fuel Development Act and the Alternative Motor Fuel Development Fund. The legislation would eliminate existing provisions related to alternative motor vehicle fuels, including definitions and regulations for compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, electric vehicles, and other alternative fuel technologies. Specifically, the bill would remove the state's current framework for offering rebates to businesses and individuals for alternative fuel infrastructure, such as electric vehicle charging stations and natural gas refueling stations. The rebate program, which previously allowed up to 75% coverage for certain refueling stations (with maximum limits) and up to 50% coverage for electric vehicle charging equipment, would be entirely eliminated. Additionally, the bill would dissolve the Alternative Motor Fuel Development Fund, which was previously funded through grants, energy program funds, and other authorized sources, and used to provide these alternative fuel incentives. By repealing these statutes, the state would effectively end its current support and financial incentives for alternative motor fuel development and infrastructure.
