This bill appropriates $8.4 million from the state's general fund in fiscal year 2026 to the Commissioner of Public Safety specifically for providing grants to school districts, nonpublic schools, charter schools, and school bus service companies. The purpose of these grants is to help them purchase and install school bus stop-signal arm camera systems, which are devices that photograph vehicles that illegally pass stopped school buses with their stop signals extended.
