This bill exempts agricultural crop preparation services from certain organic waste disposal regulations if they can prove they have not disposed of organic waste in a landfill since January 1, 2016. The bill is part of California's broader efforts to reduce methane emissions and manage organic waste, which previously required commercial food generators to have contracts with food recovery organizations and maintain records of edible food recovery. To qualify for the exemption, the agricultural service must demonstrate to the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery that it has not sent such organic waste to a landfill since the specified date.
