This bill amends the New Mexico Massage Therapy Practice Act to require that all massage therapy licenses issued by the state board must include a clear and easily visible photograph of the license holder. Currently, the law already establishes requirements for obtaining a massage therapy license, such as being of legal age, completing educational requirements, and having at least 650 hours of education including 500 hours of massage therapy instruction. The new provision mandates that in addition to these existing requirements, the license must now feature a photo of the licensed massage therapist. This change is intended to enhance the ability to verify a massage therapist's identity and legitimacy. The bill will become effective on July 1, 2025, giving the state board time to implement the new photo requirement for license issuance.
