This bill appropriates $1,000,000 in both fiscal years 2026 and 2027 from the general fund to the Minnesota Commissioner of Agriculture to provide grants to counties for supporting county agricultural inspectors, with up to 3% of the funds allowed for administrative costs. To be eligible for these grants, counties must employ an agricultural inspector or designated employee who has completed specific requirements, including attending training offered by the Commissioner of Agriculture, coordinating with the Commissioner to review agricultural laws and enforcement procedures, compiling and submitting annual weed inspector report data, conducting annual meetings and training for local weed inspectors, and assisting the Commissioner with agricultural control programs when requested. Counties must submit an annual application to be considered, and the available grant money will be equally divided among eligible counties.
