This bill renames the existing Transgender, Gender Nonconforming, and Intersex Wellness and Equity Fund to the Two-Spirit, Transgender, Gender Nonconforming, and Intersex (2TGI) Wellness and Equity Fund, expanding its scope to include Two-Spirit individuals and broadening the grant opportunities for 2TGI-serving organizations. The bill provides detailed definitions for terms like "Two-Spirit," explaining its origins in Indigenous cultures as a term describing unique cultural roles that intersect with gender and spiritual identities, and emphasizes that it is not simply an LGBTQ+ identity. The fund will now support grants for workforce development training, resettlement and social integration programs for 2TGI asylees and immigrants, diversion programs and outreach for transitional-age 2TGI youth (defined as ages 16-26), and mental health services.
