This bill repeals the existing provisions of the Bank on California Program, which is a voluntary initiative designed to help Californians open bank or credit union accounts and save money. In addition, the bill amends the Health and Safety Code to prohibit cities, counties, or cities and counties from preventing firefighters or fire departments from voluntarily participating in studies funded by the California Firefighter Cancer Prevention and Research Program, including granting access to facilities and equipment for research purposes. The California Firefighter Cancer Prevention and Research Program, established previously, aims to fund research into cancer prevention and treatment for firefighters.
