This bill amends existing law, specifically the County Employees Retirement Law of 1937, which governs retirement systems for county, city, and district employees. Currently, county boards of supervisors can authorize retirement board members to receive up to $100 per meeting. This bill, however, proposes to allow the board of retirement in Orange County to increase this compensation limit by up to 5% each year after the last adjustment, with a new maximum of $320 per meeting, and also allows for this increase to be adopted by the board of retirement itself. The bill also includes a legislative finding that a special law is needed for Orange County due to its unique circumstances.
