Additionally, the bill specifies that if the person served with a notice of ownership claim does not respond within 15 days, the property may be disposed of in a manner consistent with existing regulations. The changes are primarily technical and do not substantially alter the fundamental procedures for handling stolen or embezzled property, but instead update the language and methods to reflect modern technological practices.
