This bill directs the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to collaborate with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine's Health and Medicine Division to conduct a comprehensive study on the health impacts of air traffic noise and pollution. Specifically, within 30 days of the bill's enactment, the National Academies will assemble a committee of experts in health and environmental science to examine and document the various health consequences associated with noise and pollution from air traffic. Once the study is complete, the National Academies will produce an expert consensus report detailing the current scientific understanding of these health impacts. The report will then be transmitted to key government officials and congressional committees, including the FAA Administrator, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, the EPA Administrator, and relevant committees in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. The bill, known as the "Air Traffic Noise and Pollution Expert Consensus Act of 2025," aims to provide a comprehensive, scientifically rigorous assessment of how air traffic may affect human health.
