This bill establishes a statewide tuition-free program for active volunteer firefighters, emergency medical services providers, and auxiliary police officers attending State University of New York (SUNY), City University of New York (CUNY), and community colleges. To remain in the program, students must maintain a cumulative grade point average (G.P.A.) of at least 2.5 and apply for existing financial aid programs like the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) and Excelsior Scholarship before receiving benefits.
