This resolution mourns the passing of Thomas J. "Tom" Schutte, a U.S. Army National Guard veteran and BNSF Railway employee who died on February 13, 2025. Born in Quincy, Illinois in 1940, Schutte was part of the 126th Supply and Services Company, which was the only Illinois National Guard unit deployed to Vietnam in September 1968, serving in Chu Lai and returning to a celebratory parade in August 1969. He was a dedicated supporter of Quincy Notre Dame High School, inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2016, and was known for his love of supporting family sports activities. The resolution acknowledges his military service, his long career with BNSF Railway, and his family connections, including his wife Judi, sons Eric and Shane, and siblings Jim and Sherry. The Illinois House of Representatives extends its deepest condolences to his family and resolves to present a copy of the resolution to his family as an expression of sympathy.
