Bill Summary
This bill relates to the ground emergency medical transportation program. The bill requires the department of health and human services (department) to employ dedicated staff for the sole purpose of expanding enrollment in the ground emergency medical transportation program. The bill requires the staff to provide technical assistance, actuary support, and Medicaid enrollment assistance to eligible ground emergency medical transportation providers that seek participation in the ground emergency medical transportation program. The bill directs the department to develop the ground H.F. _____ emergency medical transportation program to ensure access to emergency medical services throughout the state. The bill requires the department to submit a report to the general assembly by December 15 of each year regarding the ground emergency medical transportation program, which shall include the number of ground emergency medical transportation providers enrolled in the ground emergency medical transportation program, the number of ground emergency medical transportation providers that the department provided assistance to in the prior fiscal year, and barriers to enrollment in the ground emergency medical transportation program.
