This bill appropriates funds from multiple sources to the Supreme Court for various operational and programmatic needs for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. The total appropriation of $628,298,600 is distributed across several funds, including $545,164,700 from the General Revenue Fund for operational expenses, awards, grants, and probation reimbursements; $29,131,200 from the Mandatory Arbitration Fund for Mandatory Arbitration Programs; $708,800 from the Foreign Language Interpreter Fund for interpreter services; $20,793,900 from the Supreme Court Special Purposes Fund for electronic filing and case management systems; $10,000,000 from the Supreme Court Federal Projects Fund for federal project expenses; $6,000,000 from the Supreme Court Special State Projects Fund for state project expenses; $1,000,000 from the Supreme Court Indirect Cost Fund for administrative expenses; $500,000 from the Cannabis Expungement Fund to help circuit court clerks facilitate cannabis offense expungement petitions; $5,000,000 from the Mandatory Arbitration Fund to reduce case backlogs and modernize court technology; and $10,000,000 from the Public Defender Fund to provide funding for county public defender services. The bill will take effect on July 1, 2025, and allows for flexibility in spending by specifying that appropriations are for "so much thereof as may be necessary."
