This bill reappropriates funds from the Build Illinois Bond Fund to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for various capital projects and infrastructure improvements across Illinois for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025. The bill encompasses a wide range of grants to local governments, municipalities, school districts, park districts, community organizations, and nonprofits for projects such as road and alley repairs, park improvements, school facility upgrades, community center renovations, fire station enhancements, water treatment plant upgrades, and other infrastructure investments. Grants range from as little as $1 to as much as $4,000,000 and cover locations throughout Illinois, including Chicago and numerous suburbs and smaller communities. The bill specifies that no contract shall be entered into or expenditure made until the purpose and amounts have been approved in writing by the Governor. The reappropriations are from a previous public act (Public Act 103-0589) and are intended to continue funding for projects that were not fully completed in the previous fiscal cycle.
