This resolution welcomes the Narragansett Council of Scouting America (formerly known as the Boy Scouts of America) to the Rhode Island State House and celebrates Scouting Month in February. The resolution highlights the council's significant contributions to youth development, noting that since 1910, approximately 130 million Americans have participated in Scouting programs. In 2024, the Narragansett Council served Rhode Island and neighboring states, enrolling 1,487 new Scouts and supporting 5,500 youth members. The organization's achievements include 6,842 Scouts donating 19,653 community service hours, collecting 177,847 pounds of food for local pantries, and hosting 4,896 campers at Camp Yawgoog, where 12,458 merit badges were earned. The resolution also recognizes the council's efforts to be inclusive, offering programs for disadvantaged families and welcoming 1,125 girls since 2019. Additionally, it highlights the council's plans for a new Leadership and Program Center at Camp Champlin, which will provide year-round youth development and educational programs.
