This bill modifies reporting requirements for the Board of Corrections, Division of Correction, and Division of Community Correction, streamlining and expanding their annual reporting obligations. Specifically, the Board of Corrections will now submit an annual report instead of a biennial report, with detailed sections for both the Division of Correction and the Division of Community Correction. The report for the Division of Correction must include statistics, income from agricultural and inmate activities, expenditure summaries, and progress reports on internal issues like inmate discipline, programming, facilities utilization, and construction needs. The Division of Community Correction's portion of the report will include the number of persons sentenced or transferred during the fiscal year, broken down by criminal offense classification and with statistics on the racial composition of those sentenced or transferred. Additionally, the bill removes the Director of the Division of Correction's requirement to make an annual report, as this will now be part of the Board of Corrections' annual report. The legislation also maintains the existing requirement for the Division of Community Correction to provide quarterly reports to the Legislative Council on position vacancies and average caseloads for parole and probation officers.
