The bill allows hot tubs on such properties to be exempt from state sanitary regulations if they are intended only for the occupants of the rental property. Regardless of the exemption, the bill requires that these hot tubs must display a conspicuous warning notice informing renters that the spa is exempt from state and local sanitary disease prevention requirements and that users assume their own risk. This change effectively reduces regulatory burden on property owners while providing transparency to renters about the potential health risks associated with using an exempt hot tub. The amendment updates Minnesota Statutes section 144.1222, subdivision 2d, to reflect these new provisions.
