This bill amends the environmental conservation law by modifying the definition of "immediate family" for commercial fishing license transfers. Currently, immediate family members must be related by blood, marriage, or adoption and be domiciled (living) in the same house as the license or permit holder. The proposed change removes the requirement that family members live in the same house, expanding the definition to include spouse, sibling, parent, child, grandparent, grandchild, and other relatives by blood, marriage, or adoption, regardless of their place of residence. The bill will take effect immediately and apply to any license or permit reissued on or after the date of enactment. This change potentially makes it easier for family members to transfer or inherit commercial fishing licenses by eliminating the residential proximity restriction.
