This bill modifies New York state vehicle and traffic law to provide an exemption for farmers operating covered farm vehicles from certain commercial driver's license (CDL) requirements. Specifically, the bill allows farmers to operate a covered farm vehicle (defined as a vehicle used to transport agricultural commodities, livestock, machinery, or supplies to or from a farm) within 150 miles of their farm using any class of driver's license, except for class DJ, M, or MJ licenses. The vehicle must be registered in New York, not used for for-hire operations, and not transporting hazardous materials. For covered farm vehicles weighing more than 26,000 pounds, the vehicle can only be operated within 150 air miles of the farm.
