AI Summary
This bill requires school districts and public school academies to implement a policy prohibiting students from using wireless communications devices, which are defined as electronic devices capable of texting, voice communication, internet access, and more, but not basic telephones, on school grounds during instructional time, starting in the 2026-2027 school year. The policy must include enforcement mechanisms and specific exemptions for medically necessary devices, school-issued devices, devices used for instruction or special education accommodations, lesson-specific academic assignments at a teacher's discretion, and emergency situations, provided their use does not interfere with safety protocols. The policy must also be posted on the school's website, and this bill repeals a previous section of law related to student conduct.
