This resolution recognizes and commends Dr. Layli Maparyan for her appointment as the 16th President of the University of Liberia, which occurred on January 10, 2025. Appointed by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. after a rigorous selection process by the University's Board of Trustees, Dr. Maparyan brings significant academic credentials, including a PhD in psychology from Temple University, a Master's degree from Penn State University, and an undergraduate degree from Spelman College. She has previously served as an Associate Professor at Georgia State University's Women's Studies Institute and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Georgia. The resolution highlights her commitment to the "Five Es" of Education: Effectiveness, Efficiency, Excellence, and Ethics, and notes her historical significance as the first post-war Fulbright Specialist at the University of Liberia in 2010.
