This bill, called the ThinkDIFFERENTLY About Disability Employment Act, directs the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the National Council on Disability to collaborate on increasing employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities through a comprehensive approach. Specifically, the SBA Administrator, in consultation with the Council's Chair, will provide assistance to help people with disabilities become entrepreneurs, find employment in small businesses, and help businesses hire and accommodate workers with disabilities. The bill requires the two organizations to establish a memorandum of understanding or agreement to coordinate these efforts, conduct outreach and education about the initiative, and submit a report to Congress within two years detailing their activities, achievements, and future plans for expanding employment opportunities. Importantly, the bill stipulates that no additional funding will be authorized to implement these activities, meaning the work will be conducted using existing resources. The goal is to create more pathways to employment and self-employment for individuals with disabilities by leveraging the expertise and networks of the SBA and the National Council on Disability.
