The panel will be responsible for conducting research and producing annual reports on the state of the nursing home workforce, with a particular focus on rural and underserved areas. The initial report, due within 60 days of the panel's first meeting, will assess workforce shortages, analyze existing regulations, and provide recommendations for strengthening the nursing home workforce, including strategies to reduce regulatory burdens and invest in professional training. The panel members will be appointed for two-year terms, will meet at least twice annually, and will provide real-time virtual access and recordings of their meetings to the public. The bill aims to address healthcare workforce challenges, especially in rural regions, by creating a dedicated advisory panel to study and propose solutions to staffing issues in nursing facilities.
