This bill requires the Mayor of the District of Columbia to design and issue special motor vehicle identification tags for recipients of the Purple Heart award, a military decoration awarded for combat-related wounds or death, and for the surviving spouses of Purple Heart recipients who have not remarried. To obtain these tags, individuals must provide proof of their eligibility, such as military discharge papers or official award orders, and pay a one-time application fee of $10, with no annual display fee. The collected fees will be deposited into the Office of Veterans Affairs Fund, which supports veterans' programs. This legislation also makes conforming changes to existing laws related to the Office of Veterans Affairs.
