This resolution recognizes and commends Petty Officer (Ret.) Diesha Blackmon for her distinguished military service in the United States Navy. Born in 1985 in Florida and later moving to Augusta, Georgia, Blackmon graduated from George P. Butler High School in 2003 and initially studied biology and sports medicine at Fort Valley State University. She enlisted in the Navy in 2009 as an Aviation Ordnanceman, completing boot camp in Chicago and receiving additional training in Pensacola and Virginia Beach before serving aboard the USS Carl Vinson. Blackmon completed her Navy career at NAS Lemoore, receiving an honorable discharge in September 2019. After her military service, she continued her education in nursing and psychology and now works as a Life Coach while also contributing to the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of Black Military Women. The resolution formally acknowledges her exceptional military service and community contributions, and directs the Secretary of the Senate to provide her with an official copy of the recognition, extending best wishes for her future health and happiness.
