This bill modifies the hunting regulations for nonambulatory (individuals with limited mobility) hunters in Iowa by restricting the use of certain firearms during deer hunting seasons. Currently, nonambulatory hunters with an any sex deer hunting license can use shotguns, muzzleloading rifles, or specific handguns and rifles during any established deer hunting season. The bill narrows this provision by limiting the use of these firearms to only the firearm deer hunting season. To obtain this special license, a nonambulatory hunter must still complete a form verified by a physician confirming their mobility status. If the hunter fills their tag during the firearm deer season, the license becomes invalid for subsequent seasons. This change effectively reduces the previous flexibility nonambulatory hunters had in choosing when they could use specific firearms for deer hunting, now confining their use to the designated firearm deer hunting season.
