This resolution designates the week of February 17-23, 2025, as "THON Week" in Pennsylvania to recognize The Pennsylvania State University IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, the world's largest student-run philanthropy event. THON is a year-long fundraising and awareness campaign focused on supporting pediatric cancer patients, with over 16,500 student volunteers donating more than 5 million hours of their time. The organization partners with the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital, which helps offset treatment costs, provides medical and emotional support, and funds cancer research. Since 1977, THON has raised over $236 million to support children, families, researchers, and staff, with their 2024 fundraising total reaching nearly $17 million. The resolution highlights THON's significant impact, including supporting more than 4,800 children and families with childhood cancer, and recognizes how the organization has inspired similar charitable events across the United States.
