This bill authorizes the governing authority of Clinch County to implement a technology fee, not exceeding $5.00, to be charged for various filings in the Magistrate Court, including civil actions, estates, convictions, fines, and affidavits (excluding those of indigency), with the fee assessed only once per party per action. The collected funds are designated exclusively for the technological needs of the Magistrate Court, such as purchasing and maintaining computer hardware and software, imaging and communication equipment, and digitizing court records for public access. These fees will be collected by the clerk of the Magistrate Court and remitted monthly to the county's governing authority, who will keep them in a separate account, or a joint account if the probate and magistrate judges are consolidated, and these funds must be audited annually.
