AI Summary
This bill requires public high schools (grades 9-12) to conduct an annual assembly in November during Veterans Day that provides students with age-appropriate information about the United States military. The 30-minute assembly must cover the basic structure of military branches, veterans' contributions to society, and details about military opportunities like the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) and service academies. Additionally, schools must organize a separate annual veterans appreciation event, which can take the form of publicly honoring veterans, hosting a veteran speaker, or participating in an educational initiative that recognizes military members. Schools are required to collaborate with a local veterans' association when planning the appreciation event. The bill will take effect immediately and will first be implemented in the first full school year following its enactment, aiming to enhance students' understanding and appreciation of military service.
