To help implement this expanded definition, the bill requires the commissioner of veterans affairs to establish an advisory task force of up to seven individuals with knowledge about the Secret War of Laos, including veterans, academics, and community members. This task force will provide guidance on the specific criteria for determining who qualifies as a veteran under the new provisions. The bill aims to recognize and honor the contributions of Hmong veterans and those who served in Laos during the Vietnam War era by ensuring they can access veteran benefits and recognition in Minnesota.
