This bill requires the Texas State Board of Education to mandate fetal development instruction for students in grades 7 through 12 as part of their health curriculum. The instruction must comprehensively cover fetal development, including detailed information about medically assisted and unintentional fetal termination procedures, the growth and development of an unborn child during each week of pregnancy, and the potential consequences of termination. The curriculum must also provide information about pregnancy-related resources that support carrying a child to term, specifically highlighting resources from local faith-based organizations that do not provide or advocate for abortion procedures. These new instructional requirements will be implemented starting in the 2025-2026 school year, and the bill will take effect either immediately if it receives a two-thirds vote in the Texas legislature, or on September 1, 2025, if it does not receive the necessary immediate voting support.
