This resolution recognizes the outstanding cultural contributions of the Mississippi Songwriters Alliance (MSA) over 15 years, highlighting their significant achievements in promoting musical arts and heritage. The MSA has organized 15 festivals featuring over 200 songwriters, conducted workshops and showcase events, created a monthly Songs and Stories live show, and established the Mississippi Songwriters Hall of Fame, inducting notable musicians like Jimmy Buffett and B.B. King. The organization has expanded its reach through various programs, including MSA for Veterans (providing songwriting therapy), an Ambassador Program offering free live music, and the Mississippi Music Arts Therapy (MMAT) educational initiative that brings songwriting programs to schools and libraries. Additionally, the MSA has engaged in international songwriter exchange programs with Sweden and Norway, and has been expanding its regional festivals across Mississippi. The resolution also acknowledges the recent designation of March as Mississippi Musicians Month and formally recognizes the MSA's contributions by welcoming its representatives to the Senate floor and directing that the resolution be presented to the organization and forwarded to the Mississippi Arts Commission.
