This resolution honors the life of Trooper William Frederick Black, Jr., a dedicated law enforcement officer and Army Reservist who was tragically killed in the line of duty while patrolling Georgia Highway 41 near Ringgold. The resolution dedicates the intersection of State Route 3 and Roach Hollow Road in Catoosa County as the Trooper William Black, Jr. Memorial Intersection, recognizing his remarkable service and sacrifice. Prior to becoming a trooper, Black was a standout athlete who played football and basketball at Lanier High School and Auburn University, and he graduated among the first class of Georgia state troopers with badge number 8. The resolution directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to erect and maintain appropriate memorial signs at the intersection and authorizes the Secretary of the Senate to distribute copies of the resolution to Black's family and the Department of Transportation, thereby ensuring that his memory and commitment to service are commemorated.
