This resolution honors Herman Colvin, a dedicated public servant and community leader who served in the United States Air Force and made significant contributions to the Omaha Metro area. He began his career in public education in 1980 and became a dean at Bellevue West High School in 2014. Colvin was actively involved in community service, serving on the Offutt Advisory Council, the Bellevue Community Foundation, and multiple other boards, including the Nebraska Greats Foundation and Omaha Home for Boys. He was particularly known for his efforts to improve military-community relations and create community events like Bellevue Rocks and Olde Towne Trick or Treat. The resolution, presented by the Nebraska Legislature's 109th session, extends condolences to Colvin's family, friends, and community following his passing on February 24, 2025, at the age of 75, and commits to sending a copy of the resolution to his family as a formal acknowledgment of his life and contributions.
